Thank you Nola Denett, Rami Efal and Nina Frenkel for creating Dream Summer Vacation drawings with the children of New York Methodist Hospital! The kids also designed sparkle jewelry (and inadvertently sparkle confetti all over the floor- thank you, volunteers, for much sweeping afterward!).
St. Mary’s Healthcare, May 12, 2009
The Ink Well is very happy to welcome new partner, St. Mary’s Healthcare. We headed to this Queens facility that supports “children with special needs and life-limiting conditions” and had a blast drawing comics and caricatures. This was made possible by our volunteers and legendary talents: Ray Alma, Sy Barry, Stan Goldberg, Don Orehek, Adrian Sinnott, and Joe Vissichelli. A special thanks to IWF Director, Ray Alma, who put this event together and to the inspiring children of St. Mary’s.
The kids of Bellevue are now the proud owners of tailor-made name plaques for their doors! Thank you to IWF’s Bellevue Director, Jane Archer, for crafting cool signs, including one for a boy who at first insisted his plaque say “only boys allowed” but then changed his mind to “only girls allowed,” so he wound up with “only boys and girls allowed.”
Pedro Delgado spun his famous, masterful web of superheroes and Nola Denett outdid herself again by making custom-fit, capes, headbands and hats for the kids on the spot.
Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers and to the courageous kids of Bellevue!
